About Asbestos Certification
Nearly every state has requirements for who want to become certified asbestos removing specialists. Kansas, Idaho and other states don't require certifications, but they do require that individuals take training courses before working with asbestos.
Certificates of asbestos abatement are typically offered in the five following disciplines:
- Management Planner: Creates plans and makes suggestions regarding asbestos removal.
Each discipline has prerequisites that need to be met prior to applying for a certificate.
In some cases, project managers, inspections and management planners will need a diploma or degree from high school. Experience is required for the following roles: supervisor, manager, planner and project designer. Individuals that have certain professional licenses, like engineers and architects, can be exempt from those requirements.
